OEM & Contract Apparel Manufacturing
In OEM and contract manufacturing, you own the design, the specification and the brand. Wearzo is the factory: we cut, stitch, brand, label and finish your product in our own Hyderabad unit, and nothing that leaves here says Wearzo on it. This is the arrangement apparel brands, D2C labels, dealers and distributors use when they need production capacity and consistency rather than a design partner — and it is what the "Contract Manufacturing" option on our enquiry form has always meant.
OEM or Private Label?
These two get used interchangeably and they are not the same arrangement. The difference is who owns the product development, and it changes the timeline, the sampling and the minimum quantity.
| OEM / contract manufacturing | Private label | |
|---|---|---|
| Who designs it | You do. You supply the tech pack, patterns or a reference sample. | We do. You select from a developed product base. |
| What you control | Everything — construction, fabric, fit, trims, finish. | Branding, shades, labels, packaging. |
| Development time | Longer. Pattern making and fit sampling take rounds. | Shorter. The base product already exists and is proven. |
| Typical buyer | Apparel brands and D2C labels with their own design function. | Dealers, distributors and retailers building a range under their name. |
| Best when | The product is your differentiator and must be exactly yours. | Speed to market and consistency matter more than bespoke construction. |
If the second column describes you better, the private label page covers it in full. Many buyers start with private label and move to OEM as their range matures.
What a Usable Tech Pack Contains
The quality of a first sample is almost entirely determined by what arrives with the brief. A complete pack turns three sampling rounds into one.
- A measurement chart with tolerances, graded across the size range you intend to sell — not a single base size.
- Fabric specification — composition, GSM, weave or knit type, finish. Where you have a physical swatch, send it; it settles questions a written spec cannot.
- Construction detail — seam types, stitch density, hem and cuff finishes, and anything that differs from standard practice.
- Trims and accessories — thread, buttons, zips, drawcords, elastic, with sources or references where they are specified.
- Branding and labelling — artwork, placement, dimensions, and the neck-label, size-tag and care-tag content.
- A reference sample if one exists, even an imperfect one. It resolves more ambiguity than any document.
Do not have a complete pack? Say so at enquiry rather than sending a partial one silently. We will tell you what is missing and what we would need to assume — assumptions stated up front are cheap, and assumptions discovered at bulk stage are not.
What the Unit Can Actually Do
Capacity claims are worth checking rather than taking. These are ours, and they are the same figures quoted everywhere else on this site.
The figure that matters most in a contract arrangement is the last one. Fabric sourcing, cutting, stitching, embroidery, DTF and screen printing, labelling, finishing and packing all happen on our own site. Nothing is passed to a job-worker.
For a brand, that is not a convenience point — it is a consistency and confidentiality point. Outsourced branding is where reorder drift comes from, and an outsourced production step is a copy of your pattern in a building neither of us controls.
Wearzo manufactures your product and does not sell it. Your patterns, tech pack and artwork are used to make your order and nothing else.
From Tech Pack to Repeat Production
Longer than a promotional run, because the sampling is where an OEM relationship is actually built. Rushing it is a false economy.
